Who We Are

Signal 13 was started by a retired State Trooper who dealt with the transition from public service to private life. Along the way he had to reconnect to loved ones, deal with a career's worth of trauma - both physical and emotional - and find a way to accept a new mission, one he could pick.

The resources he found were one dimensional. There was no one place to go to learn how to succeed in total. Having worked in a multi-disciplined child exploitation task force for ten years, he was able to offer victims of crime just that: a multi-dimensional, one-stop shop for everything related to their incident. So why can't we offer that to anyone who is searching for a better future? Not just public safety and military, but anyone who feels stuck and needs a guide to a better life.

What We Do

Signal 13 is not any onesingle thing. We are whatever you need us to be. We have the experience and education to listen without judgement, and because there are no licenses involved, we do not keep records or report to any organization. We report only to you and not to any employer. We do not diagnose or treat illness, we listen with an experienced ear and see if we can guide you to your personal goal. We can also recommend a professional that can deal with issues that go beyond coaching. It is not a one or the other situation. We work with therapists and doctors to help you reach the goals that are set in their offices.

Signal 13 has experience in mental health, personal fitness, job transitioning, coping with toxic leaders at work and finding new missions in retirement. We believe that to achieve a better life, you have to address all of these areas. We can help you do that, as long as you want to. In short, we have followed our dreams and succeeded to this point, now our new goal is to turn around and help the next person up.

Where We Are

For in person sessions, we are located near Main Street in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. For virtual sessions, we are here for you when you need us to be. We are a phone call, text message or video chat away. You will have a dedicated coach assigned to you. Should a need arise for additional resources, they will be funneled through your person. If there is not a good fit with your person, we will help find a better one. We will not leave you, until you have what you need to succeed.

When we help

Signal 13 does not believe in waiting lists. If you contact us, we will get back to you as soon as possible and start the process of figuring out how to help. When you need us IS when we are here. Because we do not go through insurance, there is no barrier to who we can see. Contact us, we will return the call, see what you need and offer a plan and resources in the first meeting. Take it or leave it, come back any time. It is that simple.

Signal 13 is a public safety radio alert, made by an employee in distress. It tells everyone listening that if someone doesn't get there to help, the employee may die. It is both bone-chilling and exciting to hear over the air. It means that the thing that we train for the most, is about to happen. To send out that alert is the ultimate act of bravery. It means that an employee in an alpha-type industry needs help and is reaching out to anyone who can hear them to respond. That is our mission statement. If you call out, we will respond.

We know what it feels like in the moments after a significant emotional event is over. Careers, marriages, critical incidents and just stressful days that leave you in your car with a void in your chest wondering if it is all worth it. Most of the time in those situations you are not broken, you just need a person to talk to who will understand and possibly make you laugh. Maybe you have reached the point where you are willing to throw it all away. Let us help you land on your feet with everything you hold dear intact. Maybe you need advice on how to deal with a boss who only cares about his next promotion. We have been there and dealt with them, and we can show you how to escape their vacuum. The reasons are endless, but imagine having someone on your side, with no other attachments or agendas, to help you achieve your goal.

How it Works

No insurance, no charting or records kept, no need for in-depth admissions questions. We can start with a name and a problem. We charge by the hour in 15 minute increments. How much we charge is based upon what the goal is. If you want someone to talk shop with, easy and cheaper. If we are designing your plans to overthrow the world, it will cost a little more. Payments are made through online pay application.

To be clear, "coaching" does not require licensing or certification, therefore there is no governing body to report to. If anyone, including the government wants to know what is covered in sessions, there is no written record, therefore nothing to report. We will act in the best interest of our clients, including reporting imminent threats. Short of that, we only report to you. Signal 13 coaches currently, or have held many different licenses and certifications and have all kinds of diplomas. We put them away with any title that may go with them, so we can help you with fewer barriers.
